Between Light & Dark: Crossing the Bridge into Fall Equinox & Libra Season

The overall theme as we embrace the Fall Equinox is: where are you resisting vs. allowing change in your life? And with moving into Libra Season, this change is flavored with a spotlight on intimacy and your closest relationships, asking us: where in your relationships have you been left feeling more drained than fulfilled?

This season, you may be challenged to reassess your relationship dynamics and where you’ve overgiven your time & attention. It might be helpful to ask yourself questions like: where has keeping the peace required me to abandon my own needs? What becomes possible when I stop “forcing” balance and start choosing relationships rooted in reciprocity?

The Equinox is here to remind us that balance isn’t static. It’s something we continually recalibrate as we change. What felt balanced in one season of our lives may no longer be what brings us into harmony in the next.

The energies that are coming online this Fall Equinox (September 22) and into Libra Season (September 22 - October 23):

Where might you have fallen out of balance in your life?

With all of the loud and intense energies we experienced this summer, it might be time to take stock of the different areas of your life: personal, relationships, career, health, home, and ask yourself what feels in or out-of balance, both within each category or between them. It could be helpful to reflect on: Where have I been giving too much? Where have I been neglecting my own needs? Where do I know something needs to change to restore balance?

And as you take inventory, notice if any judgment or self-criticism arises. The point here isn’t to shame yourself back into balance. Rather, it’s to offer yourself compassion for the times in which certain parts of life simply require more of you. Balance isn’t a fixed destination. It’s a continual recalibration.

What relationships are feeling reciprocal vs. one-sided?

Relationships are a major theme during Libra Season, and this may feel especially relevant to you if you have prominent Libra placements in your Natal Astrology chart. For relationally-oriented people, it can be surprisingly difficult to recognize when a relationship has become one-sided. This can be especially challenging because connection, harmony and partnership hold so much meaning for Libra placements.

Oftentimes, we don’t notice the shift until our body starts telling us somatically, through our sensations, feelings and emotions. This can show up as: exhaustion after seeing someone, resentment around always initiating connection, anxiety while waiting to be truly met or seen by this person, or the feeling that we’re carrying around the emotional weight and invisible labor of the relationship.

To build a genuinely harmonious life, our closest relationships need room for reciprocity. Who leaves you feeling more alive, supported and seen? Who consistently leaves you feeling depleted? The invitation this season is to notice what needs to be released, renegotiated or invited in to create a healthier relationship equilibrium.

In which spaces and places are you finding a sense of belonging?

After the intensity of this summer and the broader sense of disconnection many people have been experiencing, this season offers an invitation to consciously seek out or cultivate the spaces where you experience genuine connection and belonging.

For those with a “more open” Human Design chart, myself included, the environment can feel especially significant. Some spaces leave you feeling expanded, grounded and more like yourself. Others can leave you feeling overstimulated, scattered or like you need to recover afterward.

Rather than asking yourself where you “should” belong, pay attention to what your body tells you. Where do your shoulders drop? Where can you breathe more deeply? Where does tension release from your belly? Where do you stop monitoring yourself and simply exist? Those responses can offer valuable information about the people, communities and environments that actually support you. Belonging isn’t always about finding somewhere you fit. Sometimes it’s recognizing the places where you no longer have to contort yourself in order to stay.
